NewsletterKnow ThyselfYour health is your responsibility. At some point in life (or all your life) you may feel that healing is purely an external process where you need to be "fixed"; be it an emotional, physical or spiritual issue. We live in a fantastically resource-filled world with access to abundant amounts of information on anything imaginable! There is a great deal of variety and flexibility in this information that is difficult at times to navigate through. In essence there is no excuse to be ignorant about what you may be experiencing. Likewise, there are countless options on how to approach what is ailing you. Healing is not to be taken lightly. It is easy to get caught up in the "busyness" of life and neglect yourself, your family and loved ones. The most important part being, yourself. Making yourself 100% available doesn't mean doing everything for everyone and burning yourself out. It means allowing yourself time to regroup, replenish and refocus on a regular basis. Each person will have different ways of refilling their "well", so to speak. Bonding with like minded friends, getting a massage, making an appointment to see your doctor about a long ignored problem. These are all ways of taking care of yourself. It's your responsibility, not someone else's!!! Take care of yourself. This will allow you to be in a relationship, a job, in life, 100% ready, willing and able. All About YouIt is always the right time to make a change that benefits you. If there is an area of your life you are unhappy about, change is calling out to you. Resistance is futile! Not to say that it is impossible, but if left alone you will always be wondering what would have been, if only...We often neglect ourselves, especially if in a caregiving sitiuation, be it your work, young children, aging parents, a friend or spouse. There are countless situations that convince us that our needs are to be shelved, as more important matters need to be addressed. Having been down that road myself, it only makes your world more miserable. When we care for ourselves we have more to give to loved ones, respective jobs, etc... Otherwise resentment, burnout, illness and disease rear their ugly heads. When we tend to ourselves we become an example to others. You remind yourself that you, too are important. Carve out the time you so well deserve to accomplish what you need. Just imagine, you can be inspiring to others!Fear Fear of the unknown is a common roadblock to progress of any kind. In this case, improving your health. Most don't even bother starting as they fear they will not be able to stick to any change in lifestyle. Millions of people, mainly women, flood gyms, buy supplements and sign up for weight loss programs only to give up a few months later. There is only a 3% long-term success rate in weight loss. We all know we need to eat healthy, stay active and reduce stress, but how do we do it? That's the million dollar question (actually multi billion dollar question). Sometimes information can be a counter productive thing. Expecially if it instills fear! Moving past fear takes takes work and sometimes help. Allow yourself the luxury of getting help where you need it. Hire a nutritional coach to help you navagate the conflicting dietary information that floods the media, a personal trainer to get you comfortable in the gym, a therapist to help you overcome emotional barriers. Do something different this year. For yourself, and to break the cycle of fear once and for all! Explore choices that are right for you.
